I made it through Christmas – guess what! I only gained 4 pounds! and I have managed to drop 2 pounds of that. Of course, being sick for a day and a half helped 
So, what is my New Year’s resolution? Contrary to Valerie Bertinelli, I have not met my goal, so my resolution is still to lose weight. But like Valarie, to lose the weight I have to change my lifestyle – like what foods I eat and the amounts of the foods I eat.
One of the lifestyle changes is to increase my activity. You would think that running around a few hours a week with a 1, 2, 3 and 5 year old would do the trick. It doesn’t. I can find a lot of ways to sit. One of the most famous is to sit on the floor with them. And to get the older ones to help – they like being Grandmas’ helper. And I like to sit in my recliner for a couple hours watching the shows I taped (so I could zoom through the commercials). My good friend suggested that I sit on an exercise ball while I watch TV. That would be too simple (and I would have to get out of my comfortable recliner). Oh the woes of activity!
I get worn out just watching the babies. The 3 year old is a busy girl. If she isn’t into something, she’s looking for something to get into. Her school picture was almost a frown – she gave it to me and proudly said “I didn’t say cheese!” The twinkle in her eyes as she grinned just captures my heart. If I could do half the tumbling and running she does in a day, I would be sooooo fit!
To change my attitude about exercise, I have been checking out some of the fitness/bodybuilding sites. Learning the reasons some of the bodybuilders got into body building can be quite inspiring. Check out Men Women Teens Sculpt Muscle or Bodybuild. It has a blog and articles too. Looks new as there aren’t alot there – but it is growing.
