All through our lives we are taught about the food groups and balanced diet, etc. and we continue to drink Coke-a-cola, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, along with our donuts, popcorn, and bagels. We grab a healthy glass of orange juice for breakfast – or maybe a cup of java – then run until noon when we grab a burger and fries. We really listen, don’t we?
I was having a series of colds and flu one winter that would not let up. A friend of mine was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. He and his wife started researching and praying. A pastor friend told him about a product containing ‘essential sugars’. He started taking this supplement, and along with answered prayer, the doctors could no longer find a trace of Parkinson’s. Watching all of this, I decided to try it to get healthier.
I was able to get some printed information from the company. They presented scientific facts that each cell in our body has little ‘hairs’ or ‘antennas’ covering them which are made of 8 types of ’sugar’ molecules. We get 5 or 6 of them in our diet, but the last 2 are produced in fruits as they ripen on the tree or vine. In today’s world, the fruit is picked early, thus ripening in the warehouse. So these are rare and are missing in our diet.
When we have the proper amount of these sugars, our cells can communicate correctly. I compare it to being the opposite of cancer. While cancer makes the cells communicate the wrong signals, these glycoproteins provide the building blocks the body needs to repair the communications and send the correct signals. Careful, I am NOT a doctor and I am NOT saying that it cures cancer. I just gave it as an example to explain the opposite effect these glycoproteins can have.
The Oxford Journals has other information about glutronics and the essential ’sugars’ on their site. It is very interesting to read. It was here I was first introduced to glycobiology, glycans, glycoproteins, and glyconutritional diet.
Along with the supplement, my friend also went on a vegetarian diet – or mostly vegetarian – for a long period of time and still limits his meat and poultry intake.
But — that is another blog.
